Kaskad

Project Overview

Kaskad is a DeFi lending protocol built on Igra, the programmable layer of the Kaspa ecosystem. Long-term KAS holders have had limited native DeFi utility, often leaving only two options: hold or sell. Through iKAS, Kaskad opens an on-chain path for KAS into supply, collateral, borrowing and yield flows.

Kaskad is not a Kaspa-only product. EVM compatibility and cross-chain infrastructure make it accessible to multi-chain DeFi users across markets that include stablecoins, BTC, ETH, SOL and iKAS.

Three commitments define Kaskad's positioning: giving KAS on-chain productive utility; building lending infrastructure that is AI agent-ready from day one; and using conservative asset selection, COB Oracle design and bounded governance to rebuild trust in DeFi lending.

Product Mechanics

Kaskad's core product is lending and borrowing. Users supply assets to earn APY, or post supported assets as collateral to borrow against. Current supported assets include USDC, USDT, USDS, iKAS, cbBTC, wETH, wstETH and SOL, with more to follow.

Returns come from three sources: borrower interest paid to suppliers, KSKD protocol incentives for suppliers and borrowers, and protocol revenue distributed to Kaskad DAO participants. The tokenomics are straightforward — lending fees, protocol incentives and DAO allocation — with no opaque yield mechanics.

Each asset carries its own max supply, max utilization and max LTV threshold, calibrated against cross-venue liquidity and historical volatility. The protocol includes liquidations; partial liquidation can be triggered once a threshold is reached.

Differentiators

AI agent-ready

Kaskad is built around native MCP server compatibility at the protocol level. AI agents can read protocol state, connect to the dApp and build automated strategies around supplying, borrowing and rebalancing. As agentic DeFi matures, Kaskad is positioning itself as lending infrastructure that agents can call directly.

COB Oracle

Kaskad uses a proprietary COB Oracle backed by a published research paper. The design raises manipulation costs significantly, making short-window price attacks unprofitable. The lead oracle researcher has also received a Kaspa Ecosystem Foundation grant.

Bounded Governance and Revenue Split

DAO treasury and Team treasury are separated at the protocol level with immutable rules: 65% of protocol fees flow to the DAO vault, 35% to the Team vault. Fixed allocation prevents future governance from altering the core revenue structure.

Epoch-Based Rewards

KSKD rewards use an epoch mechanism. To claim rewards, users must meet a minimum supplied amount and sufficient supply uptime within each epoch. The design improves TVL stability and suppresses flash-loan-based short-term arbitrage.

Kaskad's current priority is growing protocol TVL and active suppliers, not short-term trading volume.
